A Talk with... Richard G4WKW - PEANUT

GX8ROC is inviting you to a talk, either in person at the Marconi Centre, Poldhu, or by joining a scheduled Zoom meeting.  The Marconi Centre will be open for visitors anyway as part of the monthly Saturday Sessions.

Before talking about PEANUT, I will be giving an (extremely brief) intro to digital voice radio, so there will be two sets of slides.

PEANUT is a FREE Amateur Radio Digital modes application for Android or a Windows PC.  It was developed by David PA7LIM (who also developed the popular BlueDV software).

Peanut is an excellent way of talking to other radio amateurs worldwide, both using native Peanut rooms, or rooms connected to gateways, reflectors, etc. for FREE!  All you need is an Internet-connected Android device (e.g. Phone or Tablet) or a Windows device (PC/laptop).  You need to apply for a code for your callsign to use it (and enter a valid DMR Id to get the most out of it, plus be registered for D-Star).

The talk will include a live demo of PEANUT being used to chat with James VK7JDZ in Hobart, Tasmania (who hopes to join the Zoom call too).

I will also be including "An (extremely brief!) Introduction to Digital Voice Radio" prior to covering PEANUT.
