In the Parish of LUDGVAN SW 43 Rogers' Tower - Grade II Listed Folly, probably used as look-out tower. Sits atop a hill with views over Mounts Bay to the south and distant views to St Ives Bay on the north coast.
Reached by a pathway walk of some 1.5 miles this miniature castle is set prominently on the hill of Castle an Dinas, so that the building gives the impression that it and the hill are much larger than they really are.
As a location for operating HF/VHF radio it is probably unsurpassed in west Cornwall, commanding views as it does around 360 degrees.
It will be a moderately strenuous walk over rough paths. Good outdoor footwear/walking shoes are recommended along with wind and waterproof clothing as it can get cold at the summit.
Obviously, if we are taking radio equipment it will need to be limited and packed sensibly. But distributed among a small group of fit people we should manage the challenge.
So, the question is, who is up for this?
The pictures on the links above will give some impression of the location, but in reality, seeing it for yourself is a whole new experience!!
